The Position:

JOB TITLE: Dental Practice Area Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Dental Operations

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Dental Practice Area Manager contributes to the success of assigned dental offices by supporting the strategic planning and implementation of operational and administrative responsibilities dedicated to achieving patient satisfaction and dentist and staff engagement. The Dental Practice Area Manager Team is key to leading, teaching, and interacting with staff to embody the company’s mission, vision, policies, and protocols. This position is a full-time position.

Supervision

This position has supervisory responsibility of assigned staff. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with policies and applicable laws. Consults with Human Resources, as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee’s position.
BDG Teammates will support compliance-related items by:

Practice Management Operations

Support the Director of Dental Operations with the implementation, monitoring, and achievement of
company initiatives to improve quality, cost-effective dental care that results in “life-long” dental care and
positive interactions with BDG Dental offices.

Provide leadership and mentoring to direct reports to ensure an excellent patient experience and staff
engagement. Encourages professional growth and provides feedback regularly.

With staff, foster a BDG culture that encourages staff and instills a desire to excel.

In collaboration with the other Dental Practice Area Managers and Clinical Operations Manager, ensures
that operations result in safety and effectiveness of the treatments and satisfied patients.

Resolves patient relations problems or answers questions, in person, email or via the telephone to ensure
patient satisfaction.

  • Requires compiling, organizing, and reviewing information and using established guidelines or
    procedures to determine the appropriate course of action in daily work situations.
  • May require research and analysis to determine the appropriate approach to a complex situation.
  • May consult with Supervisor, when necessary.

Handle emergency situations by following established policies and procedures.

Observes huddles, team meetings and training workshops. At times, may be asked to take a lead role.
Will be assigned a dental operations responsibility as part of the team.

Understands all roles in the dental office.

Dental Office Growth

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients and the community in order to ensure
satisfaction new or repeat patients or referrals.

Monitor key performance indicators to evaluate attainment of assigned office’s goals. Monitors and
analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly office reports to proactively make changes to the individual dental
office schedules, provide guidance to dental providers and to hold team members accountable to
reaching office/company goals.

Human Resources

Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Provides timely and accurate coaching and
performance evaluations through our performance management system including documentation of all
verbal interactions with employees. Using Core Values, takes corrective action as necessary and in
accordance with company policy and documents thoroughly. Provides on-time delivery and follow-up
regarding other Human Resource requirements for all staff.

Balances team and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views.
Contributes to building a positive team spirit. Ability to build morale and group commitments to BDG’s goals and objectives. Supports everyone’s efforts to succeed. Recognizes accomplishments of employees.

Handles all aspects of staff scheduling including but not limited to weekly schedules, call outs, and late in
notifications. Refers all medical related notifications to HR Department as directed.

Other Responsibilities

Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regards to patient’s records.
Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.

Performs all other related duties, as assigned. May be requested to assist with special projects from time
to time.

Minimum Qualifications (Industry, Work Experience and/or Education)
High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree (business, marketing, or related field) desirable. Minimum of 3 years of multi-dental practice management or 5+ years of single dental practice management is required.

Computer Skills
Microsoft windows environment with Microsoft365 to include formatting and production of word
processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email and calendars, and reports. Ability to use
tools for video conferencing, as needed. Experience with Dental Practice Management Software is
required, Dentrix Enterprise experience is desirable.

License, Registration, or Certifications
Position may require travel within the State; thus, reliable transportation is required. If using personal
vehicle, must have appropriate driver’s license and insurance coverage.

Other
Regular in-office attendance and in-person interaction with staff and the public is required. Additional
hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. At times,
individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage and prioritize multiple,
competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

This is an on-site position, rotating through assigned offices Monday through Friday and working during
normal business hours.
