Position Summary
Under supervision, this position assists the dentist or dental hygienist in the delivery of quality oral health care. Supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment room patient, instruments, and materials. Responsible for back office operations including dental assistants. Works closely with Director of Clinical Operations regarding back office operations.
Results and services of position may impact the short-term direction and/or operations of the dental office. Decisions made have an impact on compliance, resources, and service as well as may impact public image.
Supervision
This position has no supervisory responsibility; however, provides guidance to the Dental Assistants including delegation of duties, as appropriate.

Tasks Include:
Minimum Qualifications (Industry, Work Experience and/or Education)
High School Diploma (HSD). Previous experience (at least 2 years) as a dental assistant required.

Other
Regular attendance is required including varied hours. At times, individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to consult Supervisor when necessary. Overtime requires approval by Supervisor.
Schedules subject to change; and travel throughout the offices, including shifting schedules at last minute for business needs.

The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers; and reach with hands and arms. Employees must work in tight quarters on a small part of the body, passing precise tools and instruments. Often bending over in assisting the dentist or dental hygienist. Employee must be able to remain in work area for several hours at a time. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. It also requires manual dexterity in combination of eye / hand coordination. Work environment is subject to many interruptions, varying and unpredictable situations and time pressures related to multiple tasks. Work is normally performed inside. Work is normally performed inside. There is exposure to blood, chemicals and cleaning supplies.
OSHA Category
Category I: Personnel who engage in activities normally with exposure to blood or bodily fluids.
Dental assistants wear safety glasses, surgical masks, protective clothing, and gloves to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases. They also must follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x-ray machines.
